GREATEST COMEBACKS: Niki Lauda (00:28:56) A
Niki Lauda’s accident at the 1976 German Grand Prix nearly killed him. Scarred for life, his will to win forced him to dig deeper than any Formula 1 driver before him and he would return to the cockpit just 42 days later to continue his fight with arch-rival James Hunt for the world championship. Lauda’s incredible story is told by his friend and colleague Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Ferrari race mechanic Ermanno Cuoghi, former F1 driver John Watson and journalist David Tremayne.

Robert Kubica seemed destined to become an F1 world champion, before a freak rally accident in 2011 changed his life forever. Yet despite losing mobility in his arm and with the odds stacked against him, Kubica did not give up on his ambition of returning to the pinnacle of motorsport. Nigel Mansell sacrificed everything to make it to Formula 1, selling his home and working multiple jobs. Narrowly missing out on the world championship in two consecutive seasons, Mansell quit Ferrari and F1 midway through the 1990 season. He was tempted back by Williams, to take one last shot at achieving dream. Mansell’s tale is narrated by Williams co-founder Sir Patrick Head, team mate Riccardo Patrese, Race Engineer David Brown, Team Manager Peter Windsor and Press Officer Ann Bradshaw.

GREATEST COMEBACKS: Fernando Alonso (00:28:04) A
Fernando Alonso graduated from driving his sister’s go-kart into the cutthroat world of Formula 1 at the age of 19. In 2018, unable to add to his two world championships he walked away. But Alonso had unfinished business, and returned with Alpine in 2021 to prove that he was still one of the greatest drivers in history. Alonso’s comeback story is told by former Team Principals Cyril Abiteboul and Marcin Budkowski, his Alpine Race Engineer Karel Loos and the team’s Head of Digital Media Aurelie Donzelot.
